PROTEIN PEPPERMINT MOCHA LATTE
Indulge in the cozy flavors of the season with this Protein Peppermint Mocha Latte - a rich, super chocolatey, and minty treat that fuels your day while satisfying your sweet tooth. Packed with protein, this festive latte can be easily customized two ways: extra creamy with whole milk and whipped cream or a dairy-free version that is just as decadent. It’s the perfect feel-good coffeehouse favorite you can enjoy at home, anytime you’re craving a minty chocolate boost.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Make a double shot of espresso (or extra strong coffee), and add to a large 16 ounce mug.
- To a 16 ounce borosilicate glass measuring cup or small sauce pan, add milk of choice, and heat (see Note #2) until hot and scalding but not boiling.
- Once hot, add Torani Peppermint Coffee Syrup, and Chocolate Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides to the hot milk (in a pitcher/tall borosilicate measuring cup). Using a milk frother on low speed, froth until combined and almost doubled in volume.
- Swirl and tap the pitcher a few times to incorporate the bubbles into the milk. Pour into the prepared mug with espresso/coffee, and stir to combine. Enjoy as is, or top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings (both optional) for a decadent treat!
Notes
- If you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, you can add up to 3 ounces of espresso or very strong coffee.
- I prefer using the borosilicate glass measuring cup and heating the milk in the microwave (about 1 minute and 15 seconds or so), as it has the perfect tall, narrow shape for frothing. If using a sauce pan, you will need to pour the hot milk into a tall, narrow pitcher.
- For best frothing techniques, see the recipe video on my website.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Here are two ways to serve this rich and delicious Protein Peppermint Mocha Latte. Served dairy free, this drink is still frothy and delicious, using unsweetened vanilla almond milk and omitting the whipped cream. Or, indulge in a decadent, full dairy version using whole milk and whipped cream. And, don’t forget the chocolate shavings for an extra rich treat!

Indulge in this fancy coffeehouse-style drink made simple!
Although a peppermint mocha latte seems to be synonymous with the holiday season, this Protein Peppermint Mocha Latte is great any time of year. Protein coffee drinks are all the rage right now, but I’ve been enjoying them for years. This last year in particular, I have been experimenting with many different recipe variations for my protein coffee drinks. My Protein Peppermint Mocha Latte recipe is one of my go to winter coffee drinks because it’s quick to make and combines two of my favorite flavors, peppermint and chocolate.
Packing 21 grams of protein, this coffee drink is the perfect treat to fuel your morning or afternoon.
The best part about this festive latte is that it can be easily customized two ways: extra creamy with whole milk and whipped cream (and don’t forget the chocolate shavings), or a dairy-free version that is just as decadent. I most often make my coffee drinks with nut milk, and my dairy free version does not sacrifice in flavor one bit. If you don’t own an expensive espresso maker with a steamer, this recipe provides an easy alternative to frothing. Thanks to this awesome and inexpensive handheld electric milk frother and the addition of Chocolate Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (this is not a sponsored plug), when combined with any dairy or non-dairy milk it whips up into a rich, thick, and frothy coffee drink. It’s like having a coffeehouse drink at home without the high price!
How do you ensure the best results from this recipe?
My 5 tips to making a deliciously frothy Protein Peppermint Mocha Latte:
To get the best flavor combination, I used these three ingredients:
A must is using a good milk frother like this inexpensive handheld electric milk frother.
Be sure not to overheat the milk (do NOT boil), as it will not froth as well. I prefer using this borosilicate glass measuring cup (which is more like a tall pitcher) and heat it in the microwave for about 1 minute and 15 seconds or so. Of course it depends on your microwave, but definitely don’t go over 1 minute and 30 seconds, otherwise it will be too hot.
When frothing, keep the frother fairly still and tip the pitcher slightly towards the frother (like in my video). To keep the bubbles small and create a dense froth, you want to create a tornado funnel in the pitcher and hear that low hissing sound when frothing.
Tap and swirl the pitcher to incorporate the bubbles and frothiness into the rest of the milk.
It’s time to customize and Pimp My Recipe.
Pimp My Recipe:
Make it Dairy Free: Use vanilla unsweetened almond milk and omit the whipped cream. You can use other nut milks, but I find this vanilla unsweetened almond milk has the most neutral flavor for this recipe (and it froths well).
Make it Keto Friendly: Use vanilla unsweetened almond milk and Torani Sugar Free Peppermint Coffee Syrup. Since whipped cream is keto friendly, enjoy!
Make it Iced: To a tall 16 ounce glass, add cold milk of choice, Torani Peppermint Coffee Syrup, and Chocolate Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. Using the handheld electric milk frother, whisk ingredients on low until just combined and barely frothy (it will take only a few seconds). Add ice to the glass, then pour the cooled espresso (or strong coffee) slowly over the ice. Serve with a reusable straw (I like these stainless steel reusable straws), and stir before enjoying.

Footnote: Remember, do NOT boil the milk or it will not froth very well.
